Thermal Comfort and Modelling

Ensuring thermal comfort to all the occupants is one of the most challenging tasks. It is due to the fact that thermal comfort is a rather complex phenomenon and involves more parameters than just regulating the dry bulb temperature. B4I provides consulting services for the assessment and management of thermal comfort by quantitative and qualitative analysis on the basis of ASHRAE 55 standards.

The quantitative assessment can include measurements of IAQ parameters including:

  • Air temperature
  • Relative humidity
  • Mean radiant temperature
  • Air speed
  • Data on occupant activity level and insulation

The qualitative assessment involves deployment of post occupancy evaluations or indoor environmental quality surveys to obtain occupant feedback.
